Someone paid for gas with a 1963 $5 bill. Those are easy to sell for at least six bucks, but I'm keeping it because it's awesome. I've also gotten a few slightly fancy serial numbers and three wheat pennies so far. Only one star note, and it was on a modern 20 so I left it in the drawer. But still, that red five is an amazing thing to find in circulation!

I always keep a Canadian $2 bill in my pocket. Why? I was given it by my dad when I was in second grade, and he told me he'd give me $2000 if I could keep it until I graduated high school. I kept it in my wallet since I always have it on me, and I guess I never took it out.
Old bills are awesome.

when I worked at Brinks, we had guys that would race to the day's new $20 bills that were picked up from the Fed Reserve. Error notes (star notes) had a special marking on the protective plastic cover and these guys would fight to get on the route that delivered it. Then they'd go right back in the bank and beg the teller to let them exchange a clean $20 for a star note

I have a bunch of 1964 Kennedy half dollars that are 95% silver. My grandpa was a hoarder of coins, in 1964 when he heard that the mint was reducing the silver content in coins he went and brought home a bunch of half dollars, quarters, dimes, and nickels. 1964 was the only year the half dollar bore the face of kennedy and was 95% silver.
